How can RFID help achieve vehicle tracking in mixed-production automotive manufacturing

In mixed-production automotive manufacturing, RFID technology can uniquely identify each vehicle, enabling end-to-end vehicle tracking. By determining the real-time location, status, and production process of vehicles, the production management system can monitor and manage the production process in real time, promptly identifying and resolving problems, thus improving production efficiency and quality. Welding Workshop Tracking: Installing RFID readers at welding workstations allows for tracking the location and status of each body component and vehicle. By reading information from tags on body components or vehicles and linking it to workstations and processes, the production management system can record the welding process for each component and vehicle, along with relevant parameters and results. Furthermore, it can be used to track quality control and inspection processes during welding to ensure welding quality meets requirements. Painting Workshop Tracking: In the painting workshop, vehicles first undergo pre-treatment, including primer application, grinding, and cleaning. At this stage, RFID technology helps the production management system monitor and manage the vehicle processing, ensuring compliance with requirements. RFID readers can read data such as paint usage, spraying time, and paint quality during the painting process. After painting, the vehicle needs to be dried. RFID technology can track and manage the drying process by reading information on vehicle tags, ensuring that drying time and temperature meet requirements, and uploading this real-time data to the production management system. **Vehicle Assembly Stage:** During vehicle assembly, each vehicle typically carries an RFID tag containing its unique identifier and other information. At each assembly workstation, RFID readers can read the information on the vehicle tags and associate the vehicle with the current and completed workstations, ensuring that installation operations are performed in the correct sequence at each workstation. **Testing and Inspection Stage:** During the testing and inspection stage, RFID technology helps track vehicle test and inspection results. For example, by installing RFID readers on testing equipment, information on vehicle tags can be read, and test results can be associated with the vehicle. This allows the production management system to record the test and inspection results for each vehicle and perform subsequent processing and tracking. **Outbound and Delivery Stage:** During the outbound and delivery stage, RFID technology helps track the vehicle's outbound and delivery process. For example, by installing RFID readers at the vehicle exit gate, information on the vehicle's tag can be read, linking the vehicle's exit time and destination to the vehicle. This allows the production management system to track the exit and delivery process of each vehicle, as well as its destination and time. In summary, RFID technology can help track and manage vehicles in mixed-production automotive manufacturing, thereby improving production efficiency and quality. By installing RFID tags and readers at different production stages, comprehensive vehicle tracking can be achieved, ensuring the correctness and sequence of the production process.
