The smart card market has exceeded the 8 billion mark in 2013 and is expected to continue to increase by the end of the year

With the advent of intelligent society, the smart card market is becoming more and more extensive, as of now, ic Cards have broken through the 8 billion barrier, covering urban bus, underground, ferry, light rail and other comprehensive transportation, as well as public utility bill payment, landscape gardening, digital community, construction materials, small consumption and dozens of other areas. The proportion of the communication industry reached 85.35%, which is currently the largest market for ic Cards.

However, with the improvement of the public transport system, the public transport ic card (city one card) has been vigorously promoted to achieve a smart city and a convenient city. As of now, the number of ic Cards issued in cities with one card nationwide has exceeded 400 million and has received strong support from the government, which is currently planning to develop 15 smart cities, and smart Cards will face a larger market.

According to social resources statistics, 368 million social security ic Cards have been issued so far, an increase of 35 million compared to last year, and are expected to break through the 800 million barrier by the end of the year.

With the increasing relevance of the smart card industry chain, the products attached to smart Cards have been promoted accordingly. According to incomplete statistics so far, about one million consumer terminals have been installed in the country, and the wide application of smart Cards has enhanced the technical innovation capability of the domestic integrated circuit industry, with domestic smart Cards currently accounting for more than 80% of the domestic market share.

According to experts, the sales of smart Cards in 2012 were RMB 9.6 billion, and so far, the sales of smart Cards have reached 10.2 billion and are estimated to reach 13.5 billion by the end of the year.
